Bike Rodeo: April 24, 2015

Join us for our first Windsor Bike Rodeo!

2nd-5th graders, can come to learn about safe bike riding just in time for spring & summer.

Please have your children bring a peanut-free snack. Water will be provided.

3:35-3:45 – Children report to the gym for check-in and eat snack (peanut-free)

3:45-4:00 – Bicycle safety talk with Officer Veenstra, School Resource Officer

4:00-5:00 – Pick up bicycles from racks and rotate between 4 stations

  1. Bicycle checks with representatives from Village Cycle.
  2. Helmet fittings with nurses from Lutheran General.   Please be sure to bring your helmet to school.
  3. Bicycle Skill Station #1, Mounting/Dismounting, straight line control, slow speed riding
  4. Bicycle Skill Station #2, Maneuvering around obstacles, quick stops

Children must bring their own bikes to the event. We strongly encourage that children ride to school in the AM or lock their bikes at the racks before school (outside the library doors on Windsor Dr). Otherwise, you can meet your children on the blacktop at 4pm with their bikes. WINDSOR STAFF AND THE PTA ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING BICYCLES TO YOUR CHILDREN OR FOR LOST/STOLEN BICYCLES.

In case of rain, the event will be shortened to just have the safety talk and helmet checks in the gym and will be done by 4:30. We will let you know by noon on the day of the event if we are changing plans due to rain.
