Volunteer needed!
Junior Great Books has 49 enthusiastic readers ready to spend some winter recesses discussing great literature with their friends, but they can’t do it without your help. We currently have NO volunteers to lead 11 eager second grade readers, and we could really use one to two parents to take on this job. You do not have to have a second-grader, but if you do your child can be in your group. No experience is necessary. The time commitment is 30 minutes, once a week during lunch recess, for 8 weeks January-March. You pick the day that works best for you. You can partner up with another parent and either lead the group together or alternate weeks. Please contact Jenn Licato (jennlicato@yahoo.com) or Leah Ross (lraeross6@gmail.com) to learn more.

PERMISSION SLIPS ARE DUE THIS FRIDAY NOVEMBER 17TH.  PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING AS A DISCUSSION LEADER.  IT IS SUPER EASY AND SUPER FUN! TRAINING IS PROVIDED TOO:)

What is Junior Great Books?
Junior Great Books (JGB) is an extracurricular, reading enrichment program open to 1
st—5th grade students at Windsor School. Children meet in informal groups with parent leaders to read and discuss selected short stories. The stories include fairytales and folktales from around the globe. Through these stories, students are introduced to themes and prose from other cultures in a setting that encourages critical thinking and fosters a LOVE of reading!!

When will students meet for Junior Great Books?
The Junior Great Books program will run from the week of January 22 through the week of March 12, 2018. Students will meet once each week for 30 minutes during lunch recess. Each student will need a book to participate in the program.

How can I sign my child up for the Junior Great Books program?
If your child is interested in this fun and enriching experience, please read and fill out the form below and return it to school by Friday, November 17, along with a check for $21 made payable to Windsor PTA. The books for the JGB program cannot be purchased at a bookstore; however, we do have a few Windsor copies to loan out, which are available on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Leah Ross or Jenn Licato for more information.

Can I volunteer to lead or co-lead a group?
YES, please do!! We need volunteers. The program cannot run without discussion leaders. It’s a great way to get involved, and absolutely no experience is necessary! There will be a training session on the evening of January 10th, 2018 to go over the program.

Can I donate my old Junior Great Books?
Absolutely! You can drop off your Jr. Great Books donations to the Windsor school office.
If you have any questions about the JGB program, or you are interested in borrowing a Windsor copy, please contact Jenn Licato at jennlicato@yahoo.com or Leah Ross at lraeross6@yahoo.com
