Reflections Art Contest

2022-2023 theme: “Show your Voice…”

Is your child a budding artist?

Is your child looking for a creative outlet?

If so, we highly recommend learning more about Reflections!

This year, Windsor PTA is accepting submissions for the National PTA Reflections art program from students in Kindergarten thru 5th grade. Reflections is a theme-based art competition, where students can be recognized and compete in art, photography, writing, music, dance, and film!  Student winners advance through council, region, and state Reflections programs, with the chance to win scholarship money at the national level!

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: October 28, 2022 to Mrs. Reed in the Windsor LMC

STUDENT ENTRY PACKET:

SPECIFIC CATEGORY GUIDELINES:

Students submit their completed works of art and a completed & signed entry form (page 3 of the student packet) to their local unit. It is important to follow general rules and guidelines for the specific art category. Judging is more stringent at the council and region levels. Entries are disqualified if they fall outside of stated rules.

Submissions are evaluated by category and age division*. Then, artwork is scored according to a rubric for interpretation (40%), creativity (30%), and technique (30%). Therefore, scoring will tend to be higher for artist statements that include both the student’s inspiration and how their artwork relates to the theme. Projects typically advance to the council level (AH Council), where judging is more rigorous and includes all participating local PTAs in D25 schools. Next, top scoring artwork advance to region (NW Cook Region) and state (Illinois). Ultimately, only one project in each art category advance to nationals (National PTA). In January, all D25 participants will receive a certificate from AHC. Region advancers are celebrated by NW Cook Region and state advancers and honorable mentions are announced in March. Artwork from region winners is showcased at the annual Illinois PTA Convention.

* Reflections has a Special Artist Division that is an option for students with disabilities who receive services under IDEA or ADA. Learn more about eligibility and rules from Special Artist Division Specific Rules/Guidelines.
